What are Alkaline
Foods
Many
experts believe that consuming alkaline foods can make a big difference
in people’s health. Years ago alkaline nutrition was very common in
society. Because of that, health problems were quite different from
those found in recent times. The appearance of fast foods quickly changed the way
people eat.
It is a bit unusual to see people eating fruits or vegetables but is
quite common to see almost everybody consuming very large portions of
meats and sugary foods. The radical change in the eating habits has
brought many consequences to the world’s population. The sudden
uprising of many diseases that were rare must be a warning for us to
adjust our diet.
Our
bodies require a balanced ph to work in the most efficient
manner. The ph can be understood as a measure of the alkalinity or
acidity of a water solution. The natural environment inside our cells
is alkaline and so is the space between the cells. Most people are not
aware that the origin of many chronic conditions that we are seeing
today comes from eating too much acidic food. The ingestion
of too much acidic food leads to an acidic ph in the cells and blood.
Needless to say conditions like cancer and even viral infections
require an acidic ph to spread through the body.
The best way to prevent such health problems from happening is by
eating a diet rich in alkaline foods. This kind of food makes the
cell environment very unfavorable for virus and bacterial infection.
Other conditions that can be prevented with a slightly more alkaline diet compared to what we currently eat are:
arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, acid reflux,
indigestion and more.
Remember that the body requires approximately an 80% of alkalinity in
your meals to remain healthy so getting the appropriate foods can make
the difference. Meats, fish and milk derivates are highly acidic so you
must limit the amount of them as much as possible.
Fruits and vegetables are the key factors in an
alkaline diet.

Some
of the most popular alkaline foods are: avocados, beets, carrots,
radish, apples, celery, pineapples, potatoes, white cabbage, olive oil.
These foods are normally very high in
antioxidants plus they are a great source of vitamins, minerals and can
lower your blood pressure. Other benefits are hormone stabilization and
sugar level regulation.
Remember natural food equals good health.
